Environmental Impact
To produce one cotton T-shirt, it takes around 700 gallons of water. This is because cotton is a highly water-intensive plant. Many countries have suffered droughts due to the production of cotton, leaving limited water for civilians and agriculture.
Fast-fashion is often made from cheap polyester (which is plastic!) meaning it does not break down in the ocean. Its production also uses harmful chemicals which can be absorbed by your skin. In comparison, hemp needs very little water to grow and enriches the soil it grows on! It is also chemical-free as there is no need to use pesticides or herbicides!
Comfort
Hemp has tiny fibres so garments from this material are comfortable. What’s more, is that with each wash the clothing becomes increasingly cosy! as the fabric softens over time.
Durability
If hemp clothing is so soft, surely it isn’t as durable? Wrong! In fact, hemp is four times stronger than cotton. Our Trippy Panther T-shirts won’t stretch like your cotton ones and as hemp is so absorbent, the colour won’t fade. Hemp is highly breathable and absorbent. It draws moisture away from your skin, helping to limit sweating. It also has antibacterial properties, meaning that it can prevent body odour!
